General Sonic / Consider the following.

I don't really see the need for them, but now that they've been put up, it'd be silly to take them down when people put effort into getting them. I don't make the decisions though; that's why I'm not an administrator!

Kid Chameleon...*drools*

My best time was ~1:30 for the whole game, IIRC. I wrote it down somewhere, but died about 5 times in a row in that cursed Bloody Swamp. The next time I did it, I got through first time, but screwed up on Alien Isle and Final Marathon. God bless that game.

*Owns a Megadrive and SMC*

My Megadrive has unfortunately suffered the full force of time. Also, I never actually owned Sonic 3 or Sonic 1, which was why I bought SMC.

Hey Sonux, I agree with your sig. If you're going to do it, it's just common sense to do it correctly.

Which is why you should change the spelling to "Congratulations".

GameFAQs. Brian actually posted a topic stating his "Best Times". I totalled his DEZ in Sonic 2 time, and he and Rusty cried foul. For shame.

My bad. I read "Sonic 3 Act" as "Sonic 3 Time Attack" for some reason. Nevertheless, I'm sick of the whole "Look at what I did! *Hits chest*" attitude.

How could nobody believe anything below 1:17? 55 was always on the cards, lower if people committed (as can be seen here).

And just out of interest, was that my time? Lol, that's like 7/8 now...
Mike, I'm not sure, but for some reason, nobody believed. My original topic may still be around somewhere.

Hehe, I'm pretty sure it was your time ;) Ah well, set a date to practice, and within 1/2 hour you should have a time <1:00, that's for sure.

When I first came, and I posted a :53, my times were all put to 9:59, and someone (Rusty, I'm looking at you) changed my comment to "No, I think not." Then I wasn't able to post or add anymore times until I AIM'd Rolken and sent in my video.

Rolken: 0:51 is definitely possible, and I've seen screenshots of 0:50. IIRC, I think Brian and Xebra had 0:50 before they took down all their times too. If you can get a 10-2 pattern on Robotnik, :51 is easy, making :50 a possibility. As for the :49, I'd go on an act of faith here, especially since Rusty said once that someone at Sonic Cult claimed an 11-1 run. I'd say that :49 is well within reach.

As a side note, it may be impossible to get a 12-0 run, but imagine the time you'd get if you actually got it! O_O

Leaderboard Disputes / My Sonic and Knuckles DEZ Times
« on: April 17, 2004, 11:39:21 pm »
I had the same problem convincing everyone that a time <1:17 (with Knuckles, DEZ in Son2) was possible. I emailed Rolken, then sent him a video through AIM. Things picked up after that.

If I may enquire, what times do you have? If you're saying something like 30 seconds, then of course there's reason for dispute, but if it's low 50's, then I don't see where the problem is.

Hello, I have just completed owning almost all of the Sonic 3 Act records. Pretty fast too. :P I have a question, What else do I have to do to get my name to be Sonic 3 champion?  :P
Wow, new, and over-confident. If Xebra didn't take down all his times, you wouldn't be so cocky.

I don't get why Brian and Xebra are being so mean to everyone...

I know I can take this one way, and say, "It's only the internet", but I could take it the other way and say "You shouldn't insult people you don't know".

Ah, I don't know. Meeting strangers and using common courtesy don't seem to go hand in hand anymore.

1) You are dividing by 0 (x = y, ergo x - y = 0) so it's WRONG! Denied

2) Although, that 0.999... = 1 proof doesn't need to be that complicated.

3) And... what is this -4^2 = -16 thing? HOW DOES THAT WORK?
1) Exactly. But still cool to think about.

2) Try telling that to half of GameFAQs  <_<

3) It works depending on where you put your imaginary brackets. Mine always go around the -4 first, even though logically they shouldn't. Exponents first, they say.

Apparently not, but I wouldn't rule it out; recently, I've realised that anything abnormal can be explained by saying "You bought a PAL version, didn't you?".

25
Maybe the Mode button is only on 6 button controllers. I know that you can change the frequency on most GCN games; I know for a fact it works on Sonic Mega Collection, SADX and SA2B. Maybe the frequency can only be changed on PAL versions of games, since IIRC the Freeloader plays NTSC or JAP versions of games on the PAL GCN, but only on TVs compatible with 60Hz mode.

For me, this topic has raised more questions than it's answered.

Videos pose as a much better guide to a strategy. Since they also give photographic evidence of a time, I think you'll have better luck if you encourage  more of those.

I used to visit LUE, back in my darker days, but I missed the sign-up list. I've seen that proof. Also the - 4 squared = -16 was hilarious too.
Oh, and gotta love that smiley face in your picture.
Heh, it's a lot of fun there. I found the -4^2 thing more annoying than the .999~ thing, but yeah, they were both funny.

And shh! The smiley was intentional!

Brian: The .9~ is identical to .9°, or .9..., etc. It's just used to represent "Goes on forever" by LUE. I just copied and pasted all those proofs from another LUEser.

For some reason it's really hard for people to believe that .999... = 1.

Yeah, I'm still trying to understand why they don't understand too =\

Are you sure there's no "Mode" button? Maybe it's only on the 6-button controllers? At any rate, you should check again. I'd try mucking around with it, but my Megadrive transformer has broken wires, AND the RF input thingie makes the screen green.

If you can check again, I'd appreciate it. It's hidden from view, almost like a shoulder button for your right hand.
