News and Updates / Re: Administrator Title Change
« on: May 03, 2015, 06:08:38 am »
Randomly decided to check TSC for Chemical Plant Zone vids and stumbled upon this. I read bits and pieces of this thread, some sad stuff to read but I think most of it is true. :/ TSC has been dying for a while now and Parax explained a lot of the reasons why. I just never really thought people would "accept" that in a formal sense, and so many prominent members at that.
Thanks to everything the ex-Admins have done for TSC in the past, I too am overall glad I found this site. Met some cool people and tried out some things I would later decide I didn't want to pursue. I wish I was closer to a few people here, but I guess that's probably my fault.

Competition Central / S3 Freestyle charts for Time Attack no longer needed
« on: November 05, 2014, 10:22:01 pm »
The banned strats on Balloon Park, Desert Palace, and Endless Mine that resulted in freestyle charts for those levels were unbanned at least two and a half years ago by my memory.
If anyone has a time on Freestyle better than their regular time (FuzZerd has a few for example) it could be moved over, otherwise the charts are redundant.

Competition Central / Re: S3K Ring Attacks questions
« on: October 28, 2014, 02:40:41 am »
That wrapping ring nonsense was infuriating when I was SAing HC2. Sometimes I'd go too fast through a loop and get a wrapper, and it'd waste too much time trying to jump to get it. If my opinion counts (wouldn't be offended if it didn't) I'd totally ban the preservation of wrapping rings through to Act 2. Just... so stupid.
I was definitely able to get wrappers with nothing but a Lighting Shield though; I didn't know Super/Hyper made it easier.

I'll do my run either way and I'd be surprised if people cared but I am +1 in favor of donating to ACS again regardless of whether or not we can get in touch with them.

Marathon Planning / Re: Schedule for 2014 marathon
« on: July 04, 2014, 04:41:30 pm »
I'm trying to move late august/early September, so I actually don't at all know if I can do this. But I wouldn't expect the schedule to be made around me so just do it whenever and if I can't do it I'll live with it haha. Hopefully I can :D

I'll do S3 grand prix like always unless werster does since he's probably more in practice for games in general lol. I'm pretty sure I haven't played at all since the last marathon :(

News and Updates / Re: New rules regarding emulators
« on: April 03, 2014, 03:45:44 pm »
"Everyone is going to stop competing if x change is implemented" seems to get brought up every single time a rule change is suggested. I have yet to see any evidence.
People that care enough about competition and do so legitimately will compete regardless. Not that I'm relevant anymore, but passion tends to give people the motivation to provide proof and such. Other communities have no problem with this. If competition levels actually decrease because of rules like this, you've most likely weeded out a few cheaters.

I have to agree with Cruizer here.
Season 2 episode 4 is the best ep tho

Anyway, here are my own reflections on the marathon:
I'm happy to participate in the marathon and will always be willing to do so if I'm able. These marathons aren't about any of us individually, or even TSC, but about coming together and using our hobby/passion to raise money for a worthy cause. I lost my grandfather to cancer when I was young and I miss him to this very day. With the $2.3k we raised, we've contributed to preventing that from happening to future families, and that's a beautiful thing. This is something for TSC to be very proud of. And as Thorn said, any of you who participated should be proud of themselves. Good job, TSC. See you next time! Special thanks go to HDL for his fantastic runs of S3&K. I enjoyed them quite a bit! :D

i'll do my 3 minute or whatever sonic 3 TA run thing if you guys want. i have a headset now so i think the sound issues i had last time should be fixed.
could also do some glitch demo w/ sonic since i doubt people will be 1. running sonic in s3&k and 2. using 2 really retarded glitches that i can show lol.

I'll probably get around to learning Ice Cap Skip and then I'll be able to do full S3 runs. =)
But I'll continue to be an overall very depressed person with a dim future. Maybe I'll see 2014, maybe not.

I'm actually not sure I can attend even if it's an hour earlier, more things decided to come up for me tomorrow, so don't change the time for my sake. Thanks though. Was looking forward to racing Heroes, I started learning routes the other day too. :/

Competition Central / Re: Sitewide Points - Leadership Bonus
« on: September 15, 2012, 03:28:29 am »
I agree with this. Only problem I see is like... 3DBlast Rings or S1 Special where 800 people get it because it's easy, then it gets weighted because a ton of people are in it. Perhaps something in the formula to give fewer points if more than 1 people have the leadership?

23
Cruizer, why does sitewide matter? No one actually cares about that thing. It tests an extremely variable skillset based on whichever games are popular rather than which games take more skill, so I don't find making charting decisions based on it to be all that cohesive to good design of a competitive environment.

24
Many S3&K levels are faster with Super or Hyper, and there are even some zips that are only performable by using one of these transformations. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of S2 levels weren't, though. They're generally shorter.

TimpZ, doesn't IC1 boss skip require, uh, slope glitch? Or is this another method?

I will not be able to attend. Not that it matters, as I don't really know the &K part of the game anyway.

I think we could have a monthly rotation and I think we can do a race more often than once a week. Not everyone needs to be around for each race, and we can also split up the 3d players and the 2d players based on what days they are available to race. Say Sundays are 3d race nights and Wednesdays are 2D race nights. Or have two nights for each. That way we can get more games in per month.

I'd join in if we did it on SpeedRunsLive. Their system is just perfect for racing. Plus we might expose SRLers to TSC.

If not, then I probably wouldn't join in tbh. TSC doesn't have a leaderboard for races and I can't see GS putting in a bunch of effort to add them. I race on SRL primarily because I like seeing my rank go up and comparing my times with previous times to see if I've improved.
