News and Updates / Re: The future of TSC
« on: June 16, 2009, 10:12:43 pm »
Strongly voicing that we hate BSing isn't the problem. The problem is that people get involved in BS calls that they shouldn't need to. Consider the case of SonicKudos, who started explaining his Eternal Engine time by saying he spindashes in a set place. We didn't need anybody to say "hey, this level isn't played as Sonic"... he can back himself into a corner on his own. Yet the topic gets people throwing other false stats at him other than the one the topic concerns, and people telling him how to get proof of his stats. This topic could've been handled in three posts.

Admin: Please explain your Eternal Engine time.
SonicKudos: I spindashed and [rest of post here].
Admin: You made that up on the spot. Banned.

If we keep the BS posts small and civil, then we won't need to hear any more new member cries of "I'm scared to submit, I might be banned". The mob mentality makes us look like jerks, even if we are 100% justified.

Well I only have to say to people who think that... don't post false times and you won't be banned. It's not like you guys ban people without a reason.

Oh and to this list of things that could be here on TSC I'd like to add that a way to incorporate the newer players as well as not alienating the older member. Like the group harmony thing.

Wow I would really hate to see such a great and strong site go down.. I'd be more than willing to give "A community manager who can keep people together harmoniously" a shot. I've always been pretty good at keeping the peace, being fair and the like. I know that I'm relativity new here, but I'm online a lot espically in the summer (now).

I would try my hand at maintaining the code but I doubt a year of Computer Science 1 and 2 would be sufficient for that.

Hearing it's not too late to jump in here, I'd like to join in time for week 3's levels. By myself, if that is Ok.

And just so I'm clear on all of this... I can do as many levels of these selected for week 3 as I want, and I PM my stats to you Flyby Correct?

Edit: Ok wait so now I just send them in through the league site stat thing, since I'm not on a team?

I'm not exactly brand new here, but for this I guess new enough. I also had the problem of how to get to rankings, cause I didn't know you could click on the headers.  Although being called BS on isn't really a problem of mine.. (my stats are way too crappy to be called fake), I guess it is a little intimidating to come here among many Sonic champs.

All in all I'm glad to have joined TSC, cause you guys seem cool and submitting stats is a fun way to have competition.

@emerl - Oh Okay thanks. So it's nothing too important to worry about getting then. I was kinda hoping one of them to be Knuckles Chaotix and some Game Gear ones.

@Donna - *Sigh* While I have recovered my brother Genesis, sadly it doesn't work. I'm looking into A.) Getting it fixed, or B.) Getting a new one. On the plus side I do have his only Game Gear, and it's only flaw is a poorly lit screen.

I don't really have a problem with using the Mega/Gems games, they seem to work just fine for me.. (maybe I have big thumbs lol), but my only question was really if I could use them. Also I don't really record too often, just because of sheer lack of materials and resources. But I might have to look into the emulator you are talking about... seeing as how I know almost nothing about it. Finally yes all my copies of games are store bought and completely legal.

I actually hope to get started submitting stats for the 2D games this week, because I'm on EASTER BREAK!!

@No- I don't use anything like that, nor have I even looked into it honestly.

@Paraxade- Great! Thanks for clearing that up. I can't wait to get started on playing some of the older games, because I'll totally crush the competition... Yeah Right XD.

So seeing as how I am looking to compete in the older 2D sonic games, I was wondering if games like Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gems are permissible for stat subs? I unfortunately don't have any of the older game systems these were originally made for, so SMC and SG are my only means of playing them.

Thanks in advance for the help,

SonicKnuckles

(These games are the ones for GameCube by the way)

P.S. Speaking of Sonic Mega Collection, Does anyone have the complete list of games on this, and also how to unlock the secret ones? I cannot seem to find a reliable source of information browsing the internet.... Hmmm Fancy that

I have the game didn't beat it yet though.... I still have to finish the last story and of course do a bunch of missions. I seem to fail at those. It's a good game, in my opinion. Short most definitely, but still good nonetheless.

Hmm charts for this are going to prove a challenge I believe. I haven't tried my hand at glitching anything yet, but as was mentioned about the perfect hits I'm sure things beyond that are possible.

General Sonic / Re: When did you start playing Sonic?
« on: December 29, 2008, 11:01:25 pm »
Back in the days of me being 6 years old, I was taught by my brother to play Sonic Adventure for the OMG dreamcast, and later Sonic Adventure 2. We had a genesis but it didn't work, so when I played sonic it was 3D. I think that's why I'm more a fan of the 3D than the 2D (go ahead and laugh). When the Game Cube came out I was to poor to afford it, so I had to wait about 2 years. I promtly got SAB2, and SADX, along with Sonic Gems and Sonic Mega Collection. I loved SAB2 and SADX from my childhood, but again wasn't impressed with the old time of SG and SMC.  Then came Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog. I loved Sonic Heroes and set out to beat that, but I could adapt well to StH. It was just too much shooting for me, not like Sonic games much at all. I also proceeded to get and beat Sonice Riders fun and easy. Different too
Finally over the summer of 07' I got a Wii, along with Sonic and Secret Rings, (epic fail as I have come to find out).Sonic Riders 0g was also fun.  And now just for Christmas SU for Wii. I love it and I'm very impressed.

General Sonic / News From Yahoo!

Well since this is (for me at least) disturbing I thought I'd post it here. This little article from Yahoo! featured struck a nerve with me. Mainly since two of my favorite games of all time are on there. Check out this article to read it for yourself http://videogames.yahoo.com/feature/five-game-franchises-to-put-to-rest/1276226. I hope that Yahoo! is just being gay about this, but what does this mean to you, and for the future of Sonic games and Franchises.

@ieatatsonic(nice name by the way)-thanks for the welcome and yeah I like the whole riders thing without the momentum.

I got SU for Wii today. Yay I'm so happy, I can't wait to start uploading some stats for that too. So far it looks very promising, and I like it (even though it's 3d lol). Merry Christmas Everybody

@Azure- glad to hear that, 0G is very cool. Though I'm not very good at it lol
@cutiefox- thanks I will.

3 days until chirstmas, makes me very happy.
I am currently sitting in my computer science class on a 1/2 day. It's pretty easy today. Anyway I really wish I was at home, playing SAB2 cause that's what I do best.

Hey guys what's up. Long Time sonic fan here. I have been playing sonic since I was 5, by brother taught me. My favorite games in order are, SAB2, SA2, SA, Sonic DX, sonic Heroes, Sonic Riders, Sonic rider 0G, sonic and secret rings, and hopefully I will be getting sonic unleashed for X-mas. As you can see I basically like the newer games. I just wasn't around enough to have the respect for the older games. I consider myself to be fairly good, but looking at times and scores I here I feel like a novice. Well anyway I hope to continue to play and get better, so I can rise in the ranks.

Peace out,
SonicKunkles

P.S. you guys can call me SK for short.
