General Sonic / Mistakes we can learn from.

Alright, goaded on by "Sonic doesn't need a story" and the repeated rant of "Why don't you do better", I've decided to compile a fair set of knowledge in the sonic universe for what a sonic game should and shouldn't be.
I figured if I'm going to give this a shot, I'm going to need a lot more knowledge than what I have, and hopefully with subjective/objective backing as well.
Also, this could be for laughs, or for pointing out variuos shortcomings of games... I didn't see anything else like it, so here we go.
Problem: Sonic moves too fast for accuracy, or too slow for enjoyment (SU/S06 "walking" for the first, Werehog for the second)
Solution: Spindash (SA/SA2 is a perfect example of this. I can imagine this as part of the developmental stages of S2 as well "We want sonic faster... oh shit, now he's too fast... oh, spindash!")

Ok, so I picked up Rocket Knight last night to celebrate two of my best friends driving a couple hundred miles to see me, and it is fucking amazing, and unless a LOT changes as the game goes on, it joins the ranks of MM9/10 as awesome retro-made-new games.
I may wind up posting scores/times here.

so wings and PsyM and myself have been playing this game, and it's pretty awesome, so i thought we should all share our best strats and runs.
my current best is a Troll Monk @ 2969 points, which was eating everything I found after clawing them to peices...
second best was a Halfling Hunter @ about 1600, who got a couple lucky resist-drops early on, and wound up cornered by orcs after a teleport trap.

Information Kiosk / Video Cleanup List thingy....

Not sure where to put these or how to report them exactly, but I'm going to post broken vids I find in this post, so if/when someone wants to clean them up, they'll have something to go by. I'll be posting all information I have, feel free to inform me of what's needed or what isn't. If my list is used, please feel free to mod the post to get rid of them or whatever.
Also, if anyone wants to tell me specific reasons that videos can be considered obsolete (like, is it obsolete just because a stat is better in another vid? or is it only if there's nothing new in the vid? something else?) I can do a rundown of those for the games I'm versed in

Sprint's Wacky Workbench 3 video says it's time is 1:09'20, but the video itself achieves 1:07'90
Also, if anyone wants to tell me specific reasons that videos can be considered obsolete (like, is it obsolete just because a stat is better in another vid? or is it only if there's nothing new in the vid? something else?) I can do a rundown of those for the games I'm versed in

Not sure if anyone will read this, but I figure it's worth a shot.
I don't understand the banning of numerous normal abilities within a number of the games shown on this sub-site (Such as Dark Chips and Cyber Elves, specifically)
Admittedly, I know nothing of the Dark Chips, so I'll refrain from mentioning them, but I would like an answer as to why they're banned (I have the games/could get the roms, but it's annoying to know things are banned)
Cyber Elves, on the other hand, are the primary way to "level" in the case of MMZ. Progression of character is built to make the game less evil, but it would also add a lot of depth to the game itself.
Lower Lifebar means Taking damage to save time is a no-no, which is why I haven't/can't post any times from MMZ4... all my routes require max stats.
EDIT: Not totally true, so I'll start competing a little on levels I don't need high-level tech for.

SNN = crap... it's 80% stuff you should know if you're a fan, 20% BS from fan-char-creating-noobs. If you're genuinely new to the series, it's better to jump in both feet first, games, then anime/SatAM (if storyline or character devel is your thing), then the comic (for a background to where the series has come from, in parts)
if you were planning some epic 100%-all-characters-all-endings-all-emblems-SS-speedrun of SA/SA:DX, then we MIGHT help you... but at the moment, you're doing nothing but annoying us and acting rather obnoxious.

Wikkity! / ANOTHER CONVENTION TOPIC ZONOES!

This topic is to give an explanation as to why I won't be around quite as often, at least for awhile...
Well, I have finally gotten the eviction notice that is to be the beginning of my "adult" life (awhile back, but still). My gf and I are going to move to Denver, we've decided, and we'll be moving by/on the first of next year. We plan on buying a trailer in NE Denver, looking in the area of about 5k-20k (depending on space rent, for now), and eventually getting a place that we can fully own. We've also looked at a couple of fixer-upers that look like fairly good deals, and we're considering moving into one of those once we have the money to do so.
A friend of mine who's been living in the area for about 2 years will be moving in with us... he gets a cheaper place to stay, and we get help on the payment/rent, so everyone wins! (And with the US nearing a depression...)
I don't really know how this is going to go, but I do hope that I'm back on my feet again soon...
I am, however, going to continue to game, as there's only been 2 days in the past 5 (almost 6!) years when I haven't played at least 1 hour every day... One of these I was KO'd, and the other was an unfortunate turn of events that kept me working-asleep for a full day (it was BS...)
Also, once I get a recorder, I'm going to record my SDA run of MMtPB that breaks the current record by 17 seconds (Hopefully by the full 21 that I see as possible!)

This is a topic that I hope will either inspire people, or at least have people give me a few kudos ^_^
This was inspired, actually, by a misread-post.
I had seen the picture Mecha Ashura posted as a picture he turned into a poster, and I thought he MADE the picture. When I read page 2, I saw that this was debunked, but I was inspired before that point.
So I hopped on Blender and did my best to replicate, in 3D, something that we all know and love... A LAMPPOST!
Yes, I know the cone is supposed to be yellow, but for whatever reason, the texture didn't apply properly, and I already had a picture...
I'm still new to this, so nothing too complex, but I'd like to take requests for things to build in 3D...
Just for shits and giggles.
Also, if anyone wants the .blend files for these projects, as long as you give me credit for it, I'll be more than happy to PM them to you.

Ok, when I made my run, I had been trying forever for this record... like, 4 hours. I did it "legit", but I had a kind of glitch... where that cut-jump is supposed to be made, instead of hitting that ledge, I went THROUGH it... I haven't been able to do it since, but when I did, I took off once I hit the floor (well, once I got up to it) like I had a full-charge Spindash... everything else was flawless
I can't replicate it... is this legitimate even though I can't figure out how I did it?

I recently made a 90k knux point run for EHZ1 (I think that's the right abbr.), and I was wondering if it's possible to do better. Glide Combos are the way to rack up points outside of getting a perfect, and I'm not bad at them, but I was wondering what the max is, looking at it in a flawless sense...
From what I can tell, 95800 is a perfect score, but I could be wrong. What are the combo-points, for example, above 5? I know it's 100-200-500-1000-1000, but I don't know beyond there (since I don't think about it, I just do it).
Anyone have any analysis to share?
[edit] also, does anyone have the total number of rings in each stage, ignoring possibility and safety? Et al, what it takes to get the "perfect" bonus at the end of the level?

I've been working on a lot of these records for a while, and I've recently checked the TG website for scores. Lo and Behold that the scores (for S2, in this case) are horribly low.
