General Sonic / Dissecting Sonic
« on: November 06, 2012, 07:48:41 pm »
Someone over on DeviantArt has been doing an interesting series of video segments analyzing the story and character elements of the various Sonic games. Currently there are seven parts to it, but there's still more in the works. I found them to be both interesting and entertaining, so I thought I'd share.

Here's a link to the start of it:

Hiya Folks / It's Been a While, Folks!
« on: September 22, 2012, 01:19:41 pm »
Hey there, folks! Some of you may remember me, but I've been out of the picture for a while now, so I thought I'd introduce myself again.

Since the last time I've been active around here, a lot has changed in my life. Mainly, I finished my schooling and have a full-time programming job and such.

I used to be quite the Sonic fanatic, but at some point, my interest in the series as a whole just sort of...dropped off. After a prolonged absence of everything that is Sonic, however, I think I've started regaining that interest. In other words, I've been considering coming "out of retirement", so to speak, even if I might not be as active as I once was. With an HD version of Sonic Adventure 2 coming out early next month on PC and a few solid entries in the franchise I've yet to play, now seemed like as good a time as any to jump back into the scene. I'm working with some better hardware these days, too, so maybe I'll even be able to make some time attack videos or something, if I can get my skills back up to snuff.

Hopefully I'll see a few familiar faces 'round these parts, and a few new faces, too!

Anyone paying attention to the development of Sonic Fan Remix?

Because it's looking pretty impressive.

« on: December 02, 2008, 09:51:58 pm »
As requested by Sondow, here's a set of charts for TUSC.
As long as I'm at it, a quick request: could someone please sticky this and the other workbook so they're not swallowed by the depths of the TSC Necromancy Zone?

Wikkity! / Happy Halloween, everybody!

It's my favorite time of year once again. No, not Christmas, Halloween! When acting creepy is socially acceptable and unhealthy candy consumption is encouraged.

Here's an uplifting picture I drew in heart of the season:

Have a happy Halloween, everybody!

Gaming and Grazing / ITT The most diabolical Mario games ever made
« on: August 17, 2008, 02:31:36 pm »
Did you enjoy the old Mario games, but tired of them because they're so easy? Then it's time to try a polar opposite. Here are a couple rather famous hacks of the classic SMB and SMW games, that were designed specifically to make your life difficult. The level design is nothing short of ingenius, if not hilariously cruel.

You can download all three of them here:

Wikkity! / Costume Madness
« on: September 29, 2007, 05:41:00 pm »
I will be attending Geek.Kon this coming October.  It's a gaming convention with video game tournaments, anime, cosplaying, and stuff like that.  Out of curiosity, will anyone else here be attending?

I've salvaged some of my older cosplay costumes for the occasion.  My question is, which of these two do you think I should wear to the convention?

Also, it's fairly close to Halloween, so if you're dressing up as anything this year, let's see it :)

General Sonic / Sonic X-treme (Nights version) video
« on: June 03, 2007, 07:35:51 pm »
ASSEMbler of ASSEMblergames has released video footage of the unreleased Sega Saturn game: Sonic X-treme today. This version is running off the NiGHTS game engine, which was used by Sega of America.

This is a video of the concept "nights" version of Sonic Xtreme for Sega
Saturn. Looking to produce a concept for a 3D sonic, a Sega USA team
used the nights engine to produce a concept for demonstration. Upon
hearing about the use of their engine, the Japanese team had a fit and
forced the adoption of a different engine, the so called "fish eye" version
that was later canceled as unworkable.

This video is from the only copy of the game in existence, which sold for
nearly $3000 in 2006.

I wonder what either completed version of Sonic X-treme would have looked like.

Here's the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW_Pd-PTAtM&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Edcemu%2Eco%2Euk%2F

Beef / I'm confused...
« on: January 31, 2007, 10:20:30 pm »
In the Sonic Rivals boss charts, I had 2p, and when I submitted a better time for the Egg Turtle boss, it went up to 5p instead of down to 1p.  It appears no duplicate stats were formed during submission, so I'm a little confused...

I remember reading about something like this happening before.  Does it just correct itself with more submissions like the duplicate stats do?

Edit: you know what, forget it. I was ticked off about physics homework at the time, making me especially nit-picky about such trivial things.

Edit 2.0: another submission fixed it

Leaderboard Disputes / Sorry all
« on: October 22, 2006, 11:07:30 pm »
I know I immediately corrected it, but I accidentally entered some scores in the ring columns for my Sonic Adventure DX stuff when I was doing both at the same time.  I'm sorry...

Hiya Folks / Hello
« on: October 13, 2006, 05:43:03 pm »
I mainly joined to submit/compare records, but I thought I'd give the forums a go.
You can expect more statistics from me in due time.
It's good to see there's so many competent players here, I've already improved my Sonic Rush times considerably thanks to the competition :P
