According to the polls, it looks like Kerry has pretty much lost the election, but there is controversy in Ohio and Florida. In Florida, there were leftover votes in the computer systems from last year for Bush, which carried over to this elevtion, significantly increasing his vote. In Ohio, the method of voting has caused dispute before (punchcard ballots). I hope that the Kerry campaign has a good lawyer...

Because he deserves one. So does everyone, but if Bill Gates earns 100 times more than a low-level employee, he should be paying 100 times the taxes (NOT 270 times as much, as the current system has him paying) and he should get 100 times the money back from a tax cut.

Oh wow. They used punchcard ballots which are automatically suspicious. Say, don't they use punchcard ballots somewhere in Texas, or in California? Why not request recounts there?

Kerry lost the election, and has stated that he will not use lawyers in an attempt to win the election.....damn. At least we can expect more Bushisms in the near future.....
Also, a Hillary Clinton/Harold Ford Jr. campaign vs. a Rudy Giuliani/John McCain campaign in 2008?

uh, you're not talking about Presidency right? Bush and Clinton won't be able to be president anymore, Clinton already served 2 presidential terms/ has been impeached and Bush is serving his 2nd term now, so they are out of the races. I wish Gore would try again since he was cheated in 2000, but he claims he is out.

I was commenting on blueblaze's earlier quote, on a possible Hillary Clinton/Gerald Ford Jr. ticket against Bush and Cheney.

It amazes me how much Democrats complain about Bush's tax cuts. All this demonstrates to me is that the complainers are ignorant of the wider picture (politicians love that, it makes you pliable) on taxes and just focus on the "tax cuts for the rich!" sloganeering.

One, as SM said, they pay a far larger portion than the less wealthy, but more significantly IMO, corporations pay hardly any taxes! Now, to say that corporations get rich at the expense of the consumer is silly, because prices would undoubtedly be higher if they paid more taxes. But it'd still be a much better way of paying the government because instead of having to save an unknown amount and then compute what sort of figures you need at the end, more of the taxes would just be built into every purchase you make, without regard to a lot of the frivolous factors, manipulations and general unknowns in income taxes.

But then, it also takes away some of the socialist aspects of our current system. Whether that is good or not is fodder for its own discussion.

BTW, I prefer Bush's economic policies and Kerry's moral policies. As such, I voted for Badnarik.

Well, I think that Bush was the less qualified candidate, but he was tougher on defense. However, his foreign policies, economics, and basic beliefs aren't that good. The guy has half the world ready to invade the U.S.
Oh, and Theenglishman....wow. You can't have 3 consecutive terms in the U.S. You get capped off at 2, and after that, you're done. Bush will not be runnng in 2008, or 2012, or any distant election. He is not as popular as Rudy Giuliani, who may steal votes from the typically democratic New York. And Sonicam, you made 2 mistakes. First off, Clinton was never impeached. At a special committee, the poor case Ken Star had made him ~~look like~~ a moron. Second off, Theenglishman when saying 'Clinton' meant Hillary Clinton (I think)
Also, gotta love how some people are still voting Kerry as the one who will win the election, when he already lost.

Yes, he was. "Impeached" only means a majority of the House voted to send him to a trial at the Senate. It doesn't necessarily mean "removed from office", as the Senate trials found 50 and 45 guilty votes respectively when 67 were needed.

Hmmm... troubling decision... ummm... let's see... I'm Jewish, and Bush supports Israel... but he'll screw up the US economy and NAFTA, so we're involved there... sent us to Afghanistan when troops were still there... hated Paul Martin's bloody guts...

I think I'd vote Democrat.

PS - Why not get Canada's system?

1 - Four major parties: Liberal (a la Democrat), currently a minority government led by Paul Martin (yay!); Conservative (a la Republican), led by Stephen Harper (booo!); NDP (a la Green and Democrat hybrid), led by Jack Nader (polite applause); and the Bloc Quebecois (a party which wants Quebec to be a separate nation), let by Gilles Duceppe (bring down the beer bottles!).
2 - There are 300 seats, there is no campaigning on election day, and we only vote for a local candidate's party.
3 - You are not aloud to attack a party directly - only boost your own (though the Conservatives pushed the bar last election).

With the US system defiuned by our constitution, the canadate needs the majority of the electorial votes to win, or it ill go to the House (to decide Pres.) and Senate (to decide V.P.) With too many canadates, you'll always get a minority Presedent, and that doesn't make the people happy when only 35% of the people voted for that canadate and 65% of the rest of the nation doesn't want him

And btw, we've only had 20 or so minority govs in our history (dating to 1867)
