I don't know why, but we were talking about Monopoly in the chatroom when we decided it might be a good idea to have an online game with TSC members.

If we have enough interest, we should set up a time for said game. (Already confirmed: Myself, SS101, NintenDan, sonicam, time permitting.)

Thoughts?

I'd potentially be up for it, but have no idea when it would work, and am only available at random time.

Okay, there's gotta be eight in there somewhere. I'd say that it should be on a first-come-first-served basis, but then I'd miss out. :(

RPG and I have been discussing the idea of making a Sonic-themed Monopoly board, using Sonic levels and themes for the spaces on the board. Currently, we've come up with:

Monopoly #1: (2 of) Emerald Hill, Green Hill, Palmtree Panic ("green" theme)
Monopoly #2: (3 of) Labyrinth, Aquatic Ruin, Hydrocity, Tidal Tempest ("aquatic" theme)
Monopoly #3: (3 of) White Jungle, Green Forest, Jungle, Frog Forest ("jungle" theme)
Monopoly #4: Ice Cap, Twinkle Snow, Diamond Dust ("ice" theme)
Monopoly #5: (3 of) Red Mountain, Hill Top, Sky Canyon, Pumpkin Hill ("mountain" theme)
Monopoly #6: (3 of) Lava Reef, Marble, Lava Powerhouse, Volcano Valley ("fire" theme)
Monopoly #7: (3 of) Scrap Brain, Metropolis, Flying Battery, Wing Fortress, Metallic Madness, Final Egg, The Machine ("metallic" theme)
Monopoly #8: Space Colony ARK, Death Egg ("ending" theme)
Railroads: The initial four levels in Sonic R, I forget what they're called.
Utilities: Chaos Emerald, Super Emerald
Chance/Community Chest: Signposts, Capsules

They're interchangeable, of course, to a certain extent. But I want them to roughly appear in the order they would in a game.

Also SM... just wtf.

I don't think the utilities should be emeralds. That would imply they gave you the ability to go super fast and be invincible. Which they don't.

As of yet, I have not thought up a better idea though.

erm...

don't you guys know how the monopoly set up works?

the shittiest properties go on purple, and the most luxurious (or worth the most $) properties go on blue.

Look around other monopoly boards and see for yourself.

In some editions of monopoly, you've got a nice luxurious building for the blue properties (like Golf monopoly, chicago monopoly, etc) while in other games such as star wars monopoly, you've got the frickin emperor's palace! It is pure evil, yes, but nevertheless worth shitloads I'm sure, otherwise the emperor would not live in his palace :(


so basically, I think you need to swap a few things around.

The first two properties should be the shitties, ugliest, and just plain stupidest (lawl that's not a word silly...is it? :( ) zones ever. Can't really think of one in my head right now...but just very shitty zones. Any abandoned or deserted zones might be good too!

From there, you simply build up, will sticking to an appropriate theme. I have no idea why, but spring yard zone pops up in my head when I think of the third set of properties (light purple) but the other casino zones don't seem to really fit in there...so...ya

I definetly like what you have for the red properties. This is perfect! Do not change this!

The green properties, I believe, should be stuff like green hill/emerald hill zone. Basically, the green properties would be good for really beautiful zones.

The blue properties. Like starwars monopoly, we've got the evil shit for last! :D so that's fine I guess.

Overall, I think we need to change alot. If it helps, I have the National Parks Edition of monopoly. It may seem useless, but think about it, it's the National Parks Edition!!! That means parks from all over the country, in various climates and regions! ZOMG don't sonic games take place in various climates and regions? I mean I've got parks here that take place in mountains, snowy terrains, lava areas, green forests, etc. I think it might be a good idea to take some of the properties from this national parks board and apply it to some (not necessarily all, we'll see which ones seem weird) of the sonic zones for our monoply. For example, in the national parks version, they've got the red zone for mountainous parks, and well, we've got the mountain theme for our zone too, so that works out just fine!

I'll try and get pics or drawings of the board later though!

and maybe I'll go out and actually buy the "make your own monopoly game" kit later :D

How about some levels from Sonic Blast?
(the water one and the final level)
Labyrinth and Sandopolis can't compare with those for awfulness.
(I wonder how many hours I've spent in that water stage.)

No, the levels don't have to be that bad. Just use levels that everyone knows and hates. Labyrinth and Sandopolis are the best examples I can think of. Using levels from games no one plays is pretty ridiculous.

I mean...just how clean is the level, etc

Rolk said Oil Ocean for the purple ones, and at first I thought it was a really good idea. You have an old abandoned oil factory that's shitty and what not,

but then again, doesn't Oil make alot of money? :(

Just think of stuff like that! Try to think of a dull zone that has scrapped shreds of metal and is abandoned and just plain ugly and dead!

Ok, well the Labyrinth and Sandopolis Zones thing is all a matter of opinion. Marth and RPG, I think they are the worst and so do many other people. Guess you two don't and there aren't going to be avenues named "Green Hill Zone Act 2" or to that affect, so no Acts. The abandoned idea seems ok. How about maybe Aquatic Mine of an abandoned mine? :o

I won't have any time to play, but I'd gladly help in the game's construction with ideas. First things first, someone needs to make a photoshop picture of this whole idea. The Monopoly guy should be replaced with Sonic, the pieces should be of gray Sonic characters, and each property space should have a screenshot of the represented level on it.
-Purple (worst stages): These stages should have their screen shots in black and white and covered in cobwebs. I nominate Mad Space and Meteor Herd for this section.
-Light Blue (Ice): Ice Cap.
-Magenta (Urban): Radical Highway, City Escape, Route 99 (SAdv3).
-Color I can't remember (Aerial, including sky and space themed stages): Windy Valley, Sky Deck, Final Rush.
-Red (Fire/mountain): Red Mountain, Lava Reef, Sky Rail.
-Yellow (Coastal/water): Emerald Coast, Hydro City.
-Green (Forest/Jungle/Plains): Green Hill, White Jungle.
-Blue (Metallic): Final Egg, Death Egg (S3).
-Rail Roads: The places from Sonic R.
-Utilities: Twinkle Park, Casinopolis.
-Jail: Prison Island.
-Money: Rings.
Free Parking: Sonic Center.

Also everyone for got about the infamous Luxuary Tax. What should that be. I'm thinking an upgrade, perhaps the Crystal Ring from SADX?

Here's some of my ideas for Luxuary Tax (which I forgot and am embarased about).
1. If its an upgrade, perhaps the Crystal Ring or Ancient Light attack.
2. If it comes from something bad, perhaps it should be an ambush by either Eggman's robots or by the Black Arms.

I'll just chime in and say that I'm a fan of magnum's setup. Maybe the light blue should be water and yellow desert/beach or somesuch.

edit: also Chemical Plant / Oil Ocean for purple is hot.

First of all: What the crap. You yanks. Your colours are all broken. The first properties are brown goshdarnit!

Brown, Blue, Pink, Orange, Red, Yellow, Green, DarkBlue/Purpley.

That's how it goes. D:

Also, there's then ordering each of them within the monopolies in value order.

Brown: Hmm... Toughy. I would value Oil Ocean as higher, due to the oil content I guess.
Blue: TT least, Hydrocity most. Don't ask me why, that's just the way it is.
At this corner we have the IRON GATE keeping in prisoners, and the METAL HARBOUR surrounding.
Pink: Toughy. Launch Base comes out top methinks. FB is bigger perhaps, so put Wing Fortress at the lower end.
Orange: Rail -> Sanctury -> Deck.
At this corner we have The Sonic Center~.
Red: Marble -> Reef -> Mountain
Yellow: Sandopolis -> Cave -> Emerald Coast
And here we have PRISON LANE, leading to jail!
Green: Hill, Garden, Island.
Dark Blue: For this... hmm.... ARK is arguably bigger perhaps. It's also damn older. But the Death Egg is arguably more evil. I dunno.
And at this first/final corner, we have a boost plate!

Yay.

I think the utilities should be some pair of levels or something... Something that goes in a pair. I'm tempted to say Sky Chase/Wing Fortress, but that's already taken. Perhaps they could be things like Tails's Lab and the Emerald Shrine, or something.

Stations... I guess those Sonic R levels would be fine. Can't think of anything better.
